MkS & Qt 4.5.x on recents Linux distributions

Hi,

Some of you may already see the problem but for the others here is the current problem :
Due to important changes in the Qt 4.5.x library & QScintilla, MkS will most likely not works well ( ui bugs and unusable embed Designer ).
We already fixed all all major problem in the svn v2/branches/dev.
I have some small bugs to fixe and we will release a new version approximatively the next week.
The actual debian package ( and probably all others ) are no longer compatible.
You have 2 way of getting that fixed :

  • 1/ Get the svn copy from path : v2/branches/dev, patch the config.pri fi

MkS Timeline ( aka project next tasks )

Some months ago, we spoken about MkS timeline, witch is a general list of next tasks to do for next versions.
After some talk with the team, we finally agree for the current time line and we have created a wiki page for that.
You can read it here.
The debugger is already under progress by hlamer, and I (PasNox) nearly finished the new "code source indexing framework" used by the new Class Browser ( and later the auto completion system ).
You can enjoy ( as testing purpose :p ) the new class browser using branches/dev svn part.

New suffixes associations manager available.

As some of you already read, we have introduce MkS Shell.
I now finish the migration of the file suffixes associations manager to shell api meaning you can now manage all that using mks scripts.
As usual, you can see that in the current branches/dev part of the svn.

By the way, i have scheduled abbreviations and associations UI editors rework in the internal time line of the project, if you have some good ideas for the new UIs, you can contact us for mokups.

Introducing MkS Shell & new abbreviations manager based on it

Hi,

Today i want to inform you about a new great thing in MkS, MkS Shell.
This is a kind of command interpreter like bash, but very limited to execute users defined command, via it's own api.
Actually i have made a console widget that allow users to play with the shell, you can discover that in the branches/dev part.
The new abbreviations manager now take advantage of the shell, and all abbreviations are defined at start up via a dedicated script (abbreviations.mks).
The shell integration is really a new enjoyable thing that allow to script MkS itself (according we provide a lot of comm

Interview from Polik regarding MkS

Some time ago (some long time ago) a guy named Polik sent us a list of questions regarding MkS and its evolution.
After some months I finally take the time to answer them, it result of a wiki page readable by everybody.
If you are interested in the interview and MkS itself, you can read it here.

PyQt plugin available in svn

Hey !

The PyQt plugin is now available in the svn (v2/branches/dev).
It allow you to create and manage Qt 4 applications using your (probably) preferred binding.
We provide severals templates (gui application, console application, qobject herited class and designer form herited class) for helping you in this task.

As the plugin is pretty new, all feedbacks are welcome !

Inline Help using Qt Assistant Plugin

Few days ago I played a little with the QtHelp module, and some new features to add to the Qt Assistant plugin came to my mind : index based help and search based help.
What does that mean ? simply that you now have inline help using F1 or Shift-F1 (by default) on a selected word (or simply having the cursor in a word) !
The index based help will open the index corresponding to the current word in the Qt Assistant "Index" tab while the search based help will make a true search in all Qt Assistant docs and display the search result.

Enjoy ;)

Qt Assistant plugin

Yeah,

After a couple of hours I finally rewrote completely the Qt Assistant plugin.
It now relies on the Qt Help module and is totally compatible with the stand alone Qt Assistant.
Meaning that you will be able to share bookmarks, zoom, fonts and historic properties between MkS and Qt Assistant.
It's available in the dev branch.

Enjoy !
